Nautical & Safari

by Lauren on January 31, 2011

I recently applied for a Bergdorf Goodman contest where you have to design what Michael Kors clothes one of their fashionistas should wear to NY Fashion Week. If they like your outfit you could win $2,500 for a shopping spree and a trip to NY to sit front row for Fashion week. Wish me luck, I applied several times.

I cant help but fall in love with Michael Kors spring collection.

Notorious Nautical…

Sexy Safari…

Which look is your favorite?

The most perfect afternoon

by Lauren on January 31, 2011

I was sitting in Starbucks this afternoon with one of my best friends just catching up on life. Even though we were diligently doing homework and other random tasks for the week, I realized how perfect the moment was, sitting on a comfy couch, drinking a white chocolate mocha, watching the sun rays peak through the window and illuminate the dreamy coffee shop.

Yes, I think the right word to describe what I was feeling is bliss. Although Im juggling a million different things, I find peace in the smallest things, like catching up with an old friend.

I cant help but think about warm weather and all that comes with it. Sandals, beaches, sun  glasses, swimsuits,I could go on and on. However, this is not the best time to think this since the weather man just predicted 10 more inches of snow. But I will dare to dream…

The colors in that swimsuit are to dies for. I will take one of each product please!

It’s just glamorous

by Lauren on January 28, 2011

While browsing around my favorite blogs, I came across these adorable fashion sets that were created on Polyvore. I found them on a new blog I’m following.

The black blazer makes the look more polished.

These shoes are a little out of my comfort zone but with the rest of this outfit I would be up for trying them.

Tunics and heels, what a dreamy combination.

These sets caught my eye because I can see myself wearing all of these pieces. Its important to know what blogs support the same style you like. It inspires you to update your look without loosing your personality.

An Artsy Side

by Lauren on January 27, 2011

Some say that shopping online is an addiction. I say that its just another way for me to express my creativity. Although I love my shopping usuals of Gap, Loft and JCrew, I am drawn to the unique and vintage inspired items on Etsy.

Just a few of my favs.

I do believe this ring is fabulous. Turquoise and gold seem to go together. I love how turquoise jewelry is in right now.

These beige gloves would be perfect to walk to class in while staying stylish.

These cupcake holders would go perfect with my cupcake making addiction. Plus, I love the print!

This print inspires me to go out and enjoy nature.

Etsy is a neat site. It sells a lot of handmade and vintage items. Even if you don’t buy anything you can feed your inner artsy side just by looking around.

Shop around on the site and tell me what you find. I would love to hear!

Five things that bring joy

by Lauren on January 25, 2011

Today I woke up to find that my earliest class was cancelled. Hallelujah! What better way to spend a free morning blogging. And better yet blogging about things that bring me joy and I’ll bet they’ll bring you some too.

1. This sign says it all. As long as you have chocolate (preferably dark) life is gunna be good.

2. Adorable Stationary. This is the ultimate old school way to brighten someone’s day. I mean who doesn’t love getting old-fashioned mail. It  really shows the person that you care and were thinking about them.

3. Mmm, sitting in an oversized chair by the crackling fire place with a cup of coffee is the ultimate way for me to unwind. It’s like nothing in the world can go wrong.

4. The art of decor. I am especially fond of NYC lofts and how people creatively decorate there tiny space.

5. The many inspiring blogs.

I got my inspiration for my blog from other various creative blogs that captured my attention. A few of my favorites talk about fashion, life, photography and art.

Please check them out, I promise you wont be disappointed but instead inspired!

http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/ – This girl knows her fashion, plus, she puts together inexpensive looks that look like they are straight from the red carpet.

http://mollymcgon.blogspot.com/ - Sunshine on a cloudy day always has inspiring quotes and a plethora of heart-warming pictures.

http://citified.blogspot.com/- This is glamorous, showcases the most amazing fashion and home decor. This site is truly glamorous.

http://joannagoddard.blogspot.com/- A cup of Joe is a blog by an NYC gal who is a magazine writer. Everything on her site is fun and fab. She has the best links for inspiration around the web.

If you aren’t apart of the blogging world or are just getting started, start by getting inspiration from other people’s blogs. The blogosphere is so exhilarating and can be something that helps feed your soul. I know so far I have enjoyed the adventure of starting a blog.

Spring Fever

by Lauren on January 22, 2011

I just started planning a cruise with some friends for spring break. The cruise is to the Bahamas, which sounds like heaven right about now with all this snow we have been having. The problem is that I’m trying to save money and Gap is making it awfully hard because they just came out with their spring collection. I am swooning over these outfits.

Okay so I want to take all these outfits to the Bahamas.

What I love about Gap is their clothes are so versatile. You can go completely casual or use the same piece and add a few accessories for work.

This baby could definitely catch some sun rays. I love adding some metallic to a spring look it keeps it fresh while adding a dressy vibe.

Tell me loves, what are you doing for spring break?

Happy Hump Day

by Lauren on January 20, 2011

After a long day of walking to class in a blizzard I needed to unwind. What better way then to explore creative pictures on Tumblr. Heres a few that brightened my day.

Love these colorful books.

Can I please have a bedroom like this?

Happy hump day! Were half way through the week and headed towards a fab weekend!

Best Dressed

by Lauren on January 17, 2011

Although I didn’t have time to watch the Golden Globes this year, I did however, pick out my favorite looks online.

One of my most favorite elegant looks is the dress Olivia Wilde was wearing. It is purely extravagant.

Dianna Argon off of Glee knows how to work pale pink.

I love this one shouldered black dress. Simple and classy.

These two look fab in their pastel colored dresses

The worst dressed… well I don’t think anyone understood this outfit, especially the two different shoes.

What were your 2011 Golden Globe favorites?

New York, New York

by Lauren on January 16, 2011

I have come down with the travel bug and although I cant go anywhere, I can reminisce of my trip to New York this past summer. It was the first time I had ever been to the great city of New York but I immediately fell in love with the city and its endless possibilities. In fact, I’m already planning on living there for a year or two; perhaps in a loft working for a PR firm in a high rise building (ok a girl can dream, right?).

When you travel to New York it feels like you’re in a different country. At first its overwhelming, but as you begin to feel like a new yorker you catch the excitement of all the opportunity the city has.

I was inspired by the rich history, architecture, art, people, style and food in NY.

A quaint street in SoHo.

A cool angle of the Brooklyn Bridge.

The skyline at night was spectacular!

You can’t go to NY without seeing a Broadway show, especially Wicked.

China Town has great fake designer purses ;) notice the black bag under my arm.

One of the old churches with amazing architecture.

Times Square was an experience in itself. A little overwhelming.

Traveling always inspires me and gives me a fresh perspective on life. It motivates me to make the most out of the life I lead.

What inspires you to be a better person?
