Birthday dresses

by Lauren on March 28, 2012

Even though my birthday isn’t for another month, I am already planning on what to wear for the big night. SInce it will be my 21st birthday, I am thinking about splurging on a new dress. However, I just can’t decide which one I want. This is where your help comes in. I have narrowed it down to a few below but let me know which on you like the best.

Ice flow dress.

Cutout dress.

Sheer madness.

All of the dresses above are from Mod Cloth and are relatively inexpensive. I laughed when I noticed all the dresses were blue, which I did not mean to do. However, I do need some more blue in my closet. Leave a comment as to which one I should buy for my birthday.

Be intentional about your life

by Lauren on March 20, 2012

“Be intentional about your life” is key advice that I heard at the recent PRSSA National Assembly in Charlotte, NC. This piece of advice not only relates to your personal life but also your professional career and for me it applies to public relations. I have always aspired to be successful in the public relations field and push myself to the fullest potential but sometimes I loose sight of the day to day choices. Each choice we make each day contributes to our professional success and happiness. Are you continually pushing yourself for change?

I thought this picture was appropriate for the conference because literally every public relations student there had a cup of coffee and an iPhone in their hands at all times. This reinforced to me that I was in the right major.

Below are some key points from the conference I thought I would share with you.

Be proactive, strategic and content driven…

Think proactively about your career, always looking for that next step. In order to get where you want to go professionally, you might have to go through some uncomfortable transitions. Lastly, in the world of public relations, it is vital to publish new innovative content rather than executing someone else’s.

You’re not leaving it behind; you’re leaving it to move forward.

Professionals often have a hard time changing when things are going well. This doesn’t mean you have to leave your job if you enjoy it, it just means constantly looking for opportunities to reach your goals and dreams.

Don’t ever bring a problem without a solution.

When something goes wrong, you have a choice of how to react. The best way to deal with a problem is to analyze the situation and ask yourself what can we do differently? That way when you talk to your supervisor about the problem, you will have a solution ready to implement.

This picture was taken after our 12 hour meeting during the conference. In the back, are all of my drinks that kept me awake.

P.S> Hope you like the new layout of CFG! Let me know what you think, I always appreciate feedback.

Jet set gal

by Lauren on March 19, 2012

I am back from my marathon of trips and am ready to start blogging more frequently again. I had so much fun on vacation but after two countries, two trips and seven states, I am ready for things to get back to normal. I created a fun info graphic below, to show you what my trip looked like.

I was definitely a jet set gal this past week and a half. Here are just a few of the many photos from my trip.

The beautiful view of Charlotte from my hotel window.

Healthy delicious Thai food at the restaurant Basil. The restaurant was decorated as a posh lounge.

Here are some inexpensive jewelry finds that I found at a store called So Good in New Orleans. They had rows and rows of gorgeous costume jewelry for cheap.

Look out for an upcoming post on what I learned at the Public Relations Student Society of America National Assembly. You wont want to miss these helpful tips for your career in public relations.
