ruby rouge.

by Lauren on March 29, 2014

one thing i love about being a blogger in Kansas City, is all of the events and people you meet. it seems like the spring time is when all of the events hit and it seems like my schedule has been packed lately with some very fun events. this past week, my lovely mother-in-law and i went to Caitlin’s, from Gussied Up, shopping event. it turned out to be a super fun girls night with a little wine sipping and a lot of shopping. Caitlin had her shopping event at a boutique called Ruby Rouge and let’s just say i know why she chose that boutique. they have super cute pieces but everything is under a $100 and you can easily find a lot under $50 as well. the owner purchases only a few of each piece that way you aren’t seeing a bunch of people around town with your same outfit.

CEvent1cevent2Cevent3Cevent4my mother-in-law was so sweet and wanted to buy my birthday presents a little early. a blog post will be coming soon about the new additions to my closet. a job well done to Caitlin and thank you for having us at your wonderful event, you know i am always up for an excuse to shop.

p.s. if you’re a blogger in the midwest area, there is a fabulous blogger conference coming up. Go Blog Social is next weekend! i am so excited to attend, learn some new tips and tricks and meet some wonderful KC bloggers.

ulta swag bag.

by Lauren on March 27, 2014

i must admit that i am a product junkie. i love going to the store and trying new beauty products probably a little too much according to my budget. i love the feeling of trying a new product and loving the results. I was super psyched that at a recent blogger event they said ULTA Beauty was one of the sponsors and would be providing all the bloggers with swag bags full of their wonderful products to try. here are a few of my favorites.

i have tried a few of these products and am already loving the vibrant coral lip color but am excited to try the violet mascara. i’ll keep you posted on how the rest of the products turn out.

by Lauren on March 22, 2014

hi lovelies! can i just say how fun lately has been. in terms of the blogger events and all the wonderful women i met at kansas city fashion week last weekend and the kc blogger brunch this morning. it has been great getting to know other women who share a similar passion for blogging. it is amazing how encouraging everyone is of each other.

anyways you can probably tell i am in a pretty good mood today because 1) it’s saturday, who isn’t happy on saturday? 2) I had the most spectacular morning at kansas city blogger brunch hosted by The Adored Life, Tullip boutique and Hello Cheeseburger. Thank you ladies for a fun filled morning with mimosas, sweet treats and giveaway goodies. did i mention that i won a wine prize pack with two bottles of vino, new wine classes and fun snack to serve. it is pretty fitting for how much i love wine, right?

okay so outfit details. here is what i wore to the event. just got this new necklace and had to wear it!

sunday’s kcfw look: (p)leather

by Lauren on March 20, 2014

i am currently loving (p)leather so when i saw this peplum top i knew it would be perfect for one of my outfits for kansas city fashion week. i paired the top with jeans and sequin heels since sunday’s shows were a bit more casual than saturday. i toped it off with a coral flower statement necklace to add a pop of color. lastly, i went with a coral lip to match my necklace.

kcfw designer trunk show.

by Lauren on March 19, 2014

kansas city fashion week has ended and while i can’t wait for next year, i am enjoying some much needed r&r this week after work. the events last week leading up to the fashion shows were an absolute blast. not only did we get to mingle with the designers, models and other bloggers but we got to enjoy delicious cocktails from kansas clean distilled whiskey.

my favorite designer was andrea marie long designs. her designs were very unique and reminded me of something you would see on a college campus back in the 1950’s. i love the fur she used and the details on the gloves.

i love the gowns below.the rose colored one looked especially amazing on the runway. the delicate roses that were sewn on the bottom of the gown were beautiful.

saturday’s kcfw look.

by Lauren on March 17, 2014

the hardest part about Kansas City Fashion Week is picking the perfect outfit for all of the events. i tend to lean toward neutral colors when i have to pick an outfit out for an event. the trick is to keep the neutrals interesting so an outfit isn’t boring. ultimately, i went with black and white but spiced it up with a unique blazer, gold accessories and a nude clog (the new trend).

i loved seeing all the bloggers at KCFW and their style and fashion. i definitely saw some new looks that i can’t wait to try like fur vests, stockings with booties and faux leather.

kcfw kick off at standard style.

by Lauren on March 15, 2014

kansas city fashion week is finally here! the week that all of us fashion bloggers have been waiting for. kcfw started this past Thursday with a kick off party at Standard Style on the plaza. it was such a fun event to mingle with other KC bloggers, designers and fashionistas. there was a rocking’ dj and some amazing cocktails were served. side note on the cocktails: i usually hate the taste of whiskey but am a new fan of clear whiskey with a little sprite, mint and lime.

IMG_0101IMG_0098

the makeup bar was unreal. they had every color you have ever dreamed of in lip gloss, lip stain, cheek stain, blush, bronzer… let’s just say i was in heaven. not to mention the wall of shoes and coordinating handbags. i wanted it all but practiced a little self-control and refrained from buying everything in the store.

we also got to meet the feature designer for kcfw, Laura Kathleen. She has been on project runway TWICE and is such a doll. we loved chatting with her and seeing her line. every one of her pieces transitions into every day wear.

stay tuned for more kcfw posts. we have shows all weekend long so follow me on Instagram and Twitter for updates.

life’s curiosities.

by Lauren on March 12, 2014

one of my many curiosities in life are people’s schedules, especially busy successful people. i like to know specifics of what time they wake up and go to bed, and how they start their morning. For some reason I get inspiration from hearing how others go about their day and might even change a habit of mine if i am inspired.  i know it’s weird but it’s totally true!

i am a creature of habit so I tend to start and end my days the same way, however, in the middle I like to change it up with a few surprises along the way as to not get bored!

schedule 1

my schedule.

6:00-6:30 a.m. – start my day with a cup of coffee and some meditation. I have noticed if I don’t do this, I start my day as a hot mess. This helps me gather my thoughts for the day and gives me a few minutes to wake up.

8:15 a.m. – arrive at work, say hi to coworkers and grab another cup of coffee before sitting at my desk

8:30-9:00 a.m. – check email and respond to anything urgent then I check my media feeds for late breaking news and anything related to my clients.

9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. – work, work and more work!

6:00 p.m. – workout, dinner with friends or an after work event! (it depends on the day but I try to do something every day after work)

8:00-10:00 p.m. – catch up with the husband, blog or watch one of my shows on Netflix (Scandal, Breaking Bad, House of Cards, Mad Men)

10:30 p.m. – read something intelligent… or not (books or blogs)

schedule 2

p.s. it’s Kansas City Fashion Week (KCFW) this week! the last thing to do is put my outfits together for the four days of events and shows. make sure to follow me on Instagram and Twitter for real time updates and pictures of all the runways shows. stay tuned for some posts about KCFW!

colors macarons.

by Lauren on March 10, 2014

i must admit that i love dessert, especially when its girly. these macaroons are seriously adorable with their bright colors and were a perfect addition to my weekend. i had my sister in town and we ended up having a wonderful afternoon eating macaroons and enjoying the nice weather. these sweet confections are the best addition to any get together with your girls.

the macaroons are made by Colors Macarons, a local Kansas City company. two KC women started Colors Macarons bakery in the River Market area and have perfected the French dessert. Colors Macarons has some awesome new flavors like vanilla bean and pistachio, and even have a canoli inspired macaroon. yum!
