cfg update – after some thoughtful consideration, i am going to take a break from blogging. not because i haven’t loved this community or enjoyed this little happy place but because i need time to refresh. with an amazing job that can be extremely busy at times, i need some time to think about where i want to devote my attention and focus to. these past four years of sharing my everyday thoughts and feelings on cfg have been very rewarding. i may consider starting up again after the new year but am going to take some time off for now. thanks for all of your support!

{outfit post} sweater weather.

by Lauren on December 8, 2014

this is one of my favorite winter outfits. in fact, i recently wore it to a K-State football game, which provided just enough warmth and a pop of purple. i love the layered look especially with a pattern underneath and chunky knit sweater on top. i will be wearing this all holiday season to casual events.

i don’t know about you all but the end of the year is always the busiest for me. whether its at work, home or holiday to-dos; I feel like this part of the year flys by. my husband and i had our first holiday party of the year this weekend, outfit details for what I wore to come.

très chic: mini dress.

by Lauren on November 24, 2014

i am loving the mini dress trend that’s popular right now, especially around the holidays! for this month’s tres chic, we all styled the mini dress a little different. the great thing about this trend is how versatile it can be, whether its pairing it with boots, tights, a scarf or an oversized bag. hopefully these three outfits give you a little inspiration for your next holiday party.

cfg lately.

by Lauren on November 19, 2014

i haven’t done one of these posts in awhile so i thought i would share some Instagrams from what i have been up to lately. it’s been busy over here with baby showers, weddings and work events galore. i think this time of year can be the busiest with everyone trying to cram in everything before the holidays.

holiday decorations. i kind of jumped the gun this year on decorating for Christmas. i usually wait until the day after Thanksgiving but when i saw these adorable decorations from Target, i knew i had to have them. someone really needs to start limiting my Target shopping trips.

red holiday coffee cups. enough said. these things make me extremely happy along with coffee dates and cozy chats with good friends.

sister time. i haven’t seen this little one in a month or two so some sister time was definitely in order. we have perfected the sister selfie.

Tivol KC. i attended The Diamond Celebration Event at Tivol and enjoyed sipping on some bubbly and trying on beautiful diamonds. i am already eyeing a few pieces for my Christmas list this year. everything is so gorgeous!

the leaves have finally all turned, peppermint mochas have hit Starbucks and thanksgiving is right around the corner. did I tell you, I love fall? we gathered at my dads house for a fall dinner to all be together while my sister was home for the weekend from college. i am so thankful for family time, especially this time of year. this month, i am focusing on gratitude and all of things in life that i am so thankful for.

this maroon dress is from Bluetique, one of my new favorite boutiques. don’t forget to use code CFG10 at checkout to get 10% off your purchase!

currently reading: eightysixed.

by Lauren on November 6, 2014

do you ever just want it all (your dream job, a beautiful home and a perfect love life) and oh yeah, you want it all now! i feel like this describes us all sometime during our 20’s. it’s a time when we are searching around every corner for who we really are. haven’t found it yet? no worries, its all about the journey in the end. However, the journey can be pretty darn witty and hilarious as Emily Belden describes in her new bestseller book, Eightsixed. i chose to feature Emily’s book because it describes a time in our life that we can all relate to, a time of searching to figure ourselves out. people describe the book as “a comedy of misses” and i couldn’t agree more because i was laughing out loud during multiple parts of the book. next time your in need of a light read, i recommend checking Eightsixed out.

Diamond Celebration with Tivol

by Lauren on November 5, 2014

what girl doesn’t love to try on beautiful diamonds and have her pictures taken? i did exactly that this week at Tivol in preparation for their Diamond Celebration event this Friday. i hope you come join me from 5-7 p.m. at the Country Club Plaza for this fun event and for a chance to win a $5,000 Tivol Gift Bond.

Also, don’t forget to participate in the #BehindTheDiamond social campaign. share your story behind one of your favorite pieces of diamond jewelry for a chance to win diamond studded earrings. i shared the story behind my wedding ring and how to me it means much more than just a piece of jewelry. it represents a marriage that has survived and thrived through so much already. it gives me hope that no matter what comes are way, our marriage will outlast it.

{outfit post} mountain style.

by Lauren on November 4, 2014

i gave a brief recap (here) of my recent trip to Beaver Creek, Co. it was absolutely beautiful up in the mountains. we got to enjoy an early fall up there because the leaves were already changing colors and the air was crisp. so of course i was excited because i got to break out my fall layers a bit early. i had to pack light for the trip so i ended up bringing a few versatile pieces that i could wear with multiple things like this army jacket and brown booties. they proved to be the perfect mountain style for the trip. i am already thinking about my next vacation. isn’t funny how we sometimes need a vacation from our vacation?
