très chic: mini dress.

by Lauren on November 24, 2014

i am loving the mini dress trend that’s popular right now, especially around the holidays! for this month’s tres chic, we all styled the mini dress a little different. the great thing about this trend is how versatile it can be, whether its pairing it with boots, tights, a scarf or an oversized bag. hopefully these three outfits give you a little inspiration for your next holiday party.

{outfit post} structured cobalt.

by Lauren on October 6, 2014

i can’t get enough of this structured banded cobalt skirt. the weighted fabric is seriously amazing! this outfit is from Francesca’s boutique and i am pretty sure every time i walk into the store, i want to purchase everything. i ended up wearing this skirt to a friend’s baby shower later in the day, which was very fitting since she is having  a boy, not to mention the blue for the royals game. Go Royals! this weekend really ended up being the perfect weekend with lots of time to catch up with my girls. lately, i have been craving some girl time so it really ended up being the perfect weekend.

{outfit post} comfy chic.

by Lauren on August 26, 2014

who else would totally wear sweatpants all of the time if you could? this girl would for sure so when i saw that Gap had a new line of track pants, i knew it was a match made in heaven. although these don’t quite make the cut for work, i wore them this past weekend for a girl’s afternoon of fun which of course included a froyo date. this weekend also included catching up with some friends we haven’t seen in a while who just had a baby! it was pretty surreal to see them as parents but so cool. although i am no where near ready to have kids, i love seeing friends become parents and enjoying there little ones.

{outfit post} sweeter than cotton candy.

by Lauren on August 25, 2014

do you have a go-to outfit for when your feeling great? it’s important to find those outfits that make you feel fabulous. i also encourage you to figure out what makes you shine on the inside and then find an outfit to match that feeling. i often think people focus on one or the other when it comes to shining on the inside or outside, but i say why can’t you have both? you deserve it! several ways that help me bring happiness from within is meditating, talking with my grandma and working out. what makes you feel unstoppable?

sunnies.

by Lauren on July 28, 2014

although summer is more than half-way though, i am in the market for a new pair of sunnies. scouring my favorite sites this weekend left me with a wish list the size of my grocery list but i was able to narrow it down to just a few of my favorites below.

we ended up taking part of this weekend to start planning our next vacation for September. i can hardly wait since these past few weeks have been absolutely crazy. the top contender for vacations spots is Beaver Creek, Colorado. i absolutely love Colorado in the summer and am sure i will love it in the early fall. if you have suggestions on things to do in Beaver Creek, I would love to hear.

{outfit post}: kimono style.

by Lauren on July 2, 2014

to be honest i was a little skeptical of the kimono trend when it first emerged but now i honestly can’t get enough. at first i thought the fabric might overwhelm my frame but somehow it hangs just right so it doesn’t look like i am wearing a bath robe. i paired the look below with kelly green shorts and gold accessories. i’ve also worn the kimono to work on casual friday with dark jeans and nude wedges. needless to say, i will be wearing this kimono well into the fall season.

styling: fit and flare.

by Lauren on June 30, 2014

obsession is an understatement for these dresses that i cannot stop buying. they are a fit and flare style, meaning the are fitted on top but flare out around your waist. i started by buying one from Madewell and then couldn’t help myself by buying another one from Gap this weekend. i think i am obsessed with this look because i can wear them to work but also out for drinks with my girls. a friend and i were sitting at a coffee shop this past weekend discussing how hard it is to find something appropriate for work but cute enough to wear out after no matter if its drinks, dinner or a professional event.

several tips i follow when styling fit and flare dresses:

1. always pair with some sort of necklace since the neckline comes up high. i choose a statement and a monogram for the looks below.

2. don’t feel like you have to wear heels with these dresses. a dressy flat sandal will do.

3. if showing you shoulders is a no-go at work, pair your fit and flare dress with a blazer. for the looks below i would pair with my nude blazer.
